The beautiful capital of Hungary is increasingly chosen by filmmakers as the backdrop for cinema and movie productions, because of its charming Eastern Europe. Thus, the following 10 places in Budapest become more familiar with visitors and are more sought after. 

1. Gellért Hotel and Baths

Situated on the banks of the Danube, Gellért Hotel and Baths has appeared in many Hungarian and foreign films. First opened in 1918, this beautiful building represents the architectural style of New Art style in Hungary at that time.

Elizabeth Taylor was here with Richard Burton, when he filmed Bluebeard (1972), and he donated a $ 8.8 million diamond heart-shaped Taj Mahal. Madonna has also appeared in Gellért's filming of Evita (1996) - about the life of Eva Perón, an Argentinean political leader, and comedian I Spy along with Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson.

2. Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace

This work was completed in 1906 in the Art Nouveau school, now a luxury hotel in Budapest. Room 179 has been popular here.

Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace appeared in a number of films, including the action comedy Spy, starring Melissa McCarthy and Jude Law. Movie buffs can immerse themselves in the film's atmosphere while sipping a cocktail in the lobby bar.

3. Bálna Building

Called by its locals, this building, nicknamed "The Baths" (Bálna), is one of Budapest's most modern buildings on the banks of the Danube, by the Dutch architect Kas Oosterhuis design. There are enough shops, bars, restaurants, and also used as a conference center.

This location is the setting for NASA headquarters in Ridley Scott's science fiction film The Martian , as well as appearing on CBS's Ransomtelevision series The film also featured in the blockbuster as Mars 2, Robin Hood, Blade Runner 2049.

4. Andrássy Boulevard and Oktogon Crossroads

Built in 1887 to connect the city center to the city park, Andrássy Avenue is the perfect backdrop for large budget films. The shady tree-lined road that is recognized as a World Heritage site is a must-visit for visitors to Budapest.

Walking on this magnificent boulevard, visitors will experience many scenes that have appeared in films, such as Bel Ami (2012) . This film starring Robert Pattinson transforms the streets of Budapest into a 19th century Parisian setting.

5. St. Stephen's Basilica

Started in 1851, this magnificent neoclassical church was completed in 1905, under the design of various architects. This is the largest church in Hungary with a capacity of more than 8,500 visitors, interior interiors with elaborate ceilings.

The streets around the cathedral were featured in Tom Hanks' Infernoblockbuster (2016) and NBC's Royal Pains drama Many scenes of Evita were filmed in front of the church.

6. Gozsdu-udvar

This popular place is located in the 7th district of Budapest, enjoyed by many visitors because of the daytime flea market and the bars and restaurants. This is also a place to attract many film crews.

Gozsdu-udvar is a small courtyard, dating back to the 1900s. It featured prominently in Arnold Schwarzenegger's Red Heat (1988), which depicts scenes of Moscow's middle streets. Tony Scott's Spy Game , starring Robert Redford and Brad Pitt, was also filmed in Gozsdu-udvars.

7. Hungarian National Opera House

Among the beautiful buildings on Andrássy Avenue, this theater is a great place for opera and ballet.

Director Francis Lawrence filmed the opening scenes of the film Red Sparrow here. Meanwhile, with Woody Allen's Love and Death (1975), the theater was erected at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Louis. Petersburg. Street scenes around the theater also appeared in Munichby Steven Spielberg (2005). The Phantom of the Opera (1998) is used here as a costly context.

8. Hungarian Parliament Building and the Danube

As the main tourist attraction in Budapest, the Danube Parliament building on the banks of the Danube attracts over 600,000 visitors each year, as it is considered Europe's most beautiful parliament building. You can take a trip on the "Green Danube" to admire the Parliament House of Hungary.

The blockbuster  A Good Day to Die Hard (2013) was filmed here. At present, tourists can selfie the same "Budapest" large letter built in front of the famous monuments here.

10. Statue of Liberty

This venue provides a unique setting for filmmakers, attracting both locals and visitors alike. There are American embassies, parks, cafes, concert venues.
